S Y N O P S I S:
Byond9 is a multi disciplined artist. From visual art, lyricism, break dancing and filmmaking.
The Deep End is a performative, experimental cinema vertie documentary which follows byond9's journey of change and self enlightenment. byond 9 directs and performs within the documentary taking the audience on a surrealist artistic experience.
Growing up around violence, depression drugs and alcohol byond9 wants to dig deep and tell his violent past where conditions surrounding him had has lost many of his friends from suicide, drugs and jail time In an ongoing cycle. byond9 wants to shed light on these particular social issues to show younger generations and those who have given up, that its never to late to change yourself and the situations your in.
Through his art he wishes to inspire a thought to change...

CHINESE CARP FISH LEGEND

An ancient Chinese tale tells of a school of carp fish swimming up a stream making their way to leap the dragon's gate in order to ascend into the heavens and to be recognised of it's power and strength . As one of the fish leap over the gate and is acknowledged of its incredible powers of perseverance and determination. The god's then transform the carp into a celestial dragon .
In 2017, Ortemel was commissioned to start the 9 Carp Project on Christmas Island. Over the last year he has completed 2 out of the 9. The carps symbolises the historical journey of Christmas Island coolies, who came to the island in waves starting centuries ago. The murals will be painted on locations ascending up the mountain to reflect the ancient tale of the carp that leaped the dragon's gate.
Crowd Funding was done in order to fully fund the film and tickets to Christmas Island.
